November 11, 2011

Why is 11.11.11 such a big deal? Some may say because they make wishes when it turns 11:11am! Or because this will be the only time when the date will all be the same numbers and they can make the most epic wish ever! This date, November 11th, 2011 means a big deal to me is because one of my good friends George, he's like my big brother got married that day. I asked him why he picked November 11th, 2011 to get married and he responded with "because it's a easy date to remember and both our birthdays are in November." Which I thought was a good reason because I thought he was going to say it means lucky or something along those lines.
For my final project, my big idea will be relationship because I'm going to use his wedding day as my final because it's an important day in my life too. I will be collecting eleven pictures and either make it into a video or slideshow and play the song Gavin DeGraw's song Follow Through and play eleven seconds of it. I chose eleven pictures and play eleven seconds of the song is because of the significance of the number. I chose the song Follow Through is because that's the song the Red Bicycle Media who filmed the whole process used for the video that they made for George and his wife, Viola. The eleven picturs would be from their enegagment photos to the wedding day.

"So, since you want to be with me
You'll have to follow through
With every word you say"

Now this is my reasoning why November 11th, 2011 is a special day to me.

To Bend/Curve

My word for this project was to bend and/or to curve. At first I thought those two words are really similar and it would be an easy project to do because we bend or curve everyday. From walking to bending down to get something out of our backpack to surfing the web. But it was hard to to use these simple words to make it seem artful. I chose my shoes because I wear them everyday and they keep my feet warm and safe. I chose this triangle thing (I apologize for not knowing what this is called) that I always see walking to class. And I thought to myself wouldn't it be cool if I could bend my shoes and fit it in there and it'll be pretty cool looking. I tried it and it came out pretty cool. In the first picture, I'm showing what the big image is and I circled the part that I was going to use, then I took a closer picture of it. At first I didn't think of putting my shoes there and when I was taking pictures, people were walking by and staring at me. It actually took me a while to think of what to do for this word and I realized how easily we do this action in our everyday life. Even when we're driving and when we're pressing the gas pedal our feet still bends a little and put a curve to it.

Fairy's Super Power

The place that I chose was Thompson Library because that's where everyone studies or in this case, sleeps. I made myself a fairy with the power to make people when they wake up less stress, able to focus and absorb the knowledge in. Often times when I'm studying I always look around or get distracted. Sometimes I would get sleepy and would take a break and go back to studying but can't take the information in. It would frustrate me because I would spend a lot more time studying than other people would. So in this picture, this girl is sleeping before she studies. So I'm the fairy that you can't really see and sprinkle my lavender star dust on her. When she wakes up, she'll be able to focus on studying and know what she's studying. I chose the color lavender is because it's a soothing and stress relief color. So when she's up she'll be relaxed and not worrying about her studies. I chose the fairy because I thought of Tinkerbell and how she fly around and being mischievous, but I wanted to help people. When I was thinking of what super power that I could have a couple came to mind like understanding all languages or having X-ray vision, but I liked this one the best. What I like most about my piece is the dust because it fits how my wand looks like. I like how the dust are star shaped instead of the typical shape of dust. What I would change about my piece is how cropping was harder and I wished that I did a better job at it. Overall I enjoyed this project and am pretty satisfied with my piece.
